This mission, bringing together paleontologists and prehistorians from the Ethiopian Heritage Authority, the French Center for Ethiopian Studies (Addis Ababa), UMR PACEA (Bordeaux), Laboratorio de Arqueología del Pleistoceno (Madrid) and PALEVOPRIM, collected a large number of fossils from the Usno Formation (dated at around 3.2 Ma) and assessed the state of preservation of these deposits. The work also enabled us to assess the potential and context of a new sedimentary sequence rich in lithic industry in the southern part of the Shungura Formation.
